Hair knowledge of Raw hair and Remy hair.

Today I'm going to talk about raw hair and virgin hair. We're going to be talking about human hair, nothing synthetic.

What's the hair extension grading system?

The grading system 6A,7A, 8A, 9A,10A, 12A, 13A, 15A.  It just never-ending.  The grading system is generally not used for raw hair. It's generally for virgin (Remy) hair. In 2014, there was 5A was the top tier here and it seems like every year they keep adding an A. Today I think we're at probably 15A.

Why do hair suppliers use the hair grading system?

Use the A grading system or speak an A is easy to understand for customers' the price with different quality hair. It's a communication to the consumer in a way that they can hopefully understand. The raw hair is generally more expensive.

How many kinds of human hair are there in the hair market?

Basically, there are two types of hair on the market, raw hair and Remy hair. My hair is raw hair,  it's 100% raw. This is beautiful hair. And almost as beautiful as Virgin Remy hair, and there are so many different names for this type of hair. This hair generally has a little bit of light processing done to it to get it to this state.

Raw hair is generally collected in a ponytail. So it's either done in places like India Vietnam, or Cambodia, they will actually bundle the hair, put it into a ponytail, cut it off, and then it stays in the ponytail until it is manufactured into a bundle.

Changes in Hair Treatment Technology:

When you have virgin hair or lightly processed hair, it's a little bit different. You have the cuticles going all different ways. And then what the hair factories have to do is use a system to realign the cuticles. This technology has changed over the last decade in the hair industry. So currently, there is a much better technique that they're using. They basically will take all the hair, bundle it up, and then they put it into a bin of solution and it's kind of like a conditioner that will soften the hair. And then they have a machine that will actually realign the cuticles of the hair.

It's really important that you have the cuticles aligned if not that's generally what's gonna cause tangling of the hair.

  •  1.Can we see the cuticles aligned?

Actually, we can't see the cuticles unless you put it under a microscope. But we can definitely feel the cuticles you're not gonna feel as many on virgin hair or processed hair.

  •  Does cuticles matter with the hair quality?

Yes! If the hair cuticle is neatly arranged and the hair scales are intact, the quality of the hair will be better, and of course the price will be higher.

When hair factories realign the cuticles, the hair also strips some of them off so it's losing some of the cuticles which is not necessarily a bad thing. Not everyone prefers raw hair over virgin hair because raw hair when it gets steamy and really hot outside, this hair will get a little bit just like real hair, it'll kind of get fluffy and a little bit crazy whereas Remy hair will not gonna have as many issues. No matter whether raw hair or Remy hair, they all need to be cared for properly.

So the Remy hair's process is basically putting hair through the solution, realigning the cuticles, and then wefting the hair.

If you remember probably about a decade ago or even the shortest five years ago, you remember where a lot of the hair smelled really bad. Because of the old hair process technology. They would put hair in almost like an acid bath. And this acid bath would 100% strip the cuticles right off the hair, which was really harsh to the hair. This would cause a lot of issues as far as the quality because the acid to get rid of those cuticles would also really diminish the quality.

Thankfully, with technology and science, they figured out a better way to process the hair and it's actually really good. I mean it's almost comparable to raw hair, but not exactly the same. That's why a lot of times you'll see that this hair process of virgin hair, people will only recommend dyeing it up to a 27 or 30 color.

Whereas when you have raw hair, this can easily be dyed up to 613 blonde or even 60 platinum if done right with professional products. So that's the main difference between the two types of hair.

Hair Tips:

What makes a Virgin(Remy)bundle cost higher or lower?
  1.  The long hair proportion of the bundle: The higher the proportion of long hair, the more expensive the price.
  2. The actual weight of the bundle: A regular and honest hair company on the market, the standard weight of their bundles is 100 g/bundle.
  3. There are no fillers in hair bundles, every hair strand is the same quality.
